p. 27 - 43 - II In Near Ruins

The beginning of the 2nd chapter takes place in Rome and tells the story about a man with bandaged hands, also named "the war hero". He worked as a spy for the allies in the war.
Conversation between the patient and a doctor: About the nurse and how she still lives in the ruin with the english patient. The patient with the bandaged hands seems to worry about her and wants to go and find her. The doctor answers to the questions "Where did he come from" really detailed and then the conversation ends with a "Thank you" and the patient walks outside.

He travels to the ruin and it was a hard journey ==> She's really important to him.
Then his name is mentioned --> Caravaggio

On p. 32 the nurse's name is mentioned for the first time: Hana.
Her and Caravaggio talking by the fountain about things like love and life.
He's worried about her because of the unexploded bombs that could be in the area where she lives.
She's worried that they won't have enough food when he'll stay there.
p. 36: Description of Caravaggio's job as a spy: party - film - mistress of the general

p. 40: english patient, someone looking ruined. hana and English patient talking about the war.

My own opinion:

> boring
> no motivation to read further
> interested in the main story but not in all those little stories from the past that are kind of unnessesarry and annoying
> Why the heck are they eating SANDWICHS at the end of the chapter!?! really weird...
